Popular Yarmouth restaurant seeks extension to create more space

A popular Yarmouth restaurant, struggling to keep up with demand, is looking to build an extension to cater for more people.

On The Rocks, on Bridge Road, has asked the Isle of Wight Council for permission to convert the unoccupied flat on the first floor to a lounge bar.

Add a first-floor extension
It also seeks to add a first-floor extension to add more seating space for the restaurant.

In planning documents, the establishment says after major refurbishment last year, to improve kitchen facilities and a disabled toilet, it lost table space.

Insufficient space for busy holiday times
It said the trade through the summer had been brisk for locals and tourists, but it was evident the provision in Yarmouth was insufficient for busy holiday times.

The documents claim the restaurant requires additional, flexible seating capacity and a first-floor extension provides the most appropriate solution.

The extension would be finished to match the existing mock Tudor building.
