In their latest pre-season match, Ventnor won a tight contest with Merrow by 17 runs at Steephill on Saturday.
Neil Westhorpe (77) and David Beven (58) helped Ventnor to 200-6 from their 40 overs before a fine spell of 5-15 from Hugh Calloway saw the Surrey Championship side fall just short of their target.
Coming up
Next Sunday, the first team play their first competitive game of the season when they travel to take on Alton in the newly sponsored National KO Cup – now called the Kingfisher Beer Cup.
