Following this morning’s Flood Alert from the Environment Agency for Lukely Brook and the Eastern Yar, an update has just been received.
The latest Flood Alert (issued at 3:23pm) reads:
Water levels on the Eastern Yar are high following the rain over the last 48 hours. Levels are currently stable at Alverstone and continue to rise at Sandown.
The river is out of bank at Whitwell and Langbridge. The river levels will restrict access to Horringford and be close to the top of the bank at Alverstone.
Golf Links Road and Moreton Common Road are flooded. Levels will be high at Sandown Bridge, the sewage treatment plant and Fort Holiday Park.
A further 10mm of rain is forecast for the remainder of today and overnight. Levels at Alverstone will rise again. Be prepared for the river to be higher than normal for the next few days.
The rainfall forecast is lower than it was this morning, but property flooding is still a possibility later on this evening (19/12/2022) and overnight.
If you live near the river, take action now to protect your property.
