Protect yourself and others during the cold weather: Met Office urges caution

The Met Office are advising of a Level 3 Cold Weather Alert.

The Met Office advise that there is a 99 per cent probability of severe cold weather and icy conditions between now and noon on Sunday 18th December in the South East of England.

Increased health risks to vulnerable patients
This weather could increase the health risks to vulnerable patients and disrupt the delivery of services.

This includes cold or very cold with overnight moderate locally severe frost.

Sleet on the way
Most of the region will be dry on Friday and Saturday until a band of rain/sleet arrives on Sunday morning accompanied by strong winds. Temperatures slowly rising over the weekend.

Risk of injuries
Please take extra care when out on foot not to slip or fall, possible Icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths.

Keep a look out for others by checking on older neighbours or relatives, especially those living alone or who have serious illnesses to make sure they are safe, warm and well.
