Public voting nears close for England’s Tourism Superstar—Isle of Wight in the running

There are just days left to vote for the Isle of Wight as winner of a national competition.

The Isle of Wight Ramblers, representing the volunteer walk leaders of the multi-award winning Isle of Wight Walking Festival, are shortlisted in a hunt for England’s Tourism Superstar.

The competition is run by national tourism body VisitEngland and the winner is decided by public vote, which closes at midnight on Sunday, 24th March.

The Isle of Wight Ramblers face opposition from Newcastle/Gateshead, Bury St Edmunds, Peak District, Leicester, Chipping Norton, Birmingham, Coventry, North Yorkshire and Lancashire, all looking to win votes and take home the title of England’s Tourism Superstar.

The Isle of Wight has strong form in the competition, with Red Funnel’s Jim O’Reilly winning in 2018 and Hovertravel’s Lorry Middleton bringing home the prize in 2020.

The award-winning Isle of Wight Walking Festival in May and October is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. Organised by Visit Isle of Wight, it’s aim is to highlight the Island as one of the premier walking destinations in the UK, while extending the visitor season.

Myles: Get behind the Ramblers
Will Myles, MD at Visit Isle of Wight said,

“I urge everyone to get behind the Ramblers, all of the volunteer walk leaders and the Isle of Wight and vote in this incredible competition now.

“It is particularly fitting that the Ramblers and volunteer walk leaders are nominated in this, the 25th anniversary of the Isle of Wight Walking Festival and winning would be a fitting tribute to everyone who has made this event what it is today.

“Let’s bring the VisitEngland Tourism Superstar award home once more!”
