Police investigating a dog attack on a puppy at Ryde on the Isle of Wight can now provide an update.
An investigation was launched following a report of a ‘Cockapoo ‘puppy being attacked by another dog at Ryde Esplanade on Wednesday January 11.
Contrary to reports circulating in the media and on social media sites, officers carried out enquiries to identify the dog and its owner immediately after the incident was reported.
Officers can also confirm that the attacking dog has been surrendered by its owners and has now been destroyed.
Inspector Kelvin Shipp from Ryde police said: “I have visited the puppy’s owners and they are happy with our actions. We have been actively pursuing lines of enquiry since Wednesday and our enquiries are continuing to establish if any further offences have been committed.”
Anyone with information on other attacks should contact police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
