September’s Comedy Club at Quay Arts features a return visit from the hilarious, larger than life (literally at 6’7″), antipodean comic Colin Cole on tour from Australia and fellow comics Shazia Mirza and Gary Delaney.
Colin Cole is one of the biggest names in comedy in Australia and renown for his dynamic performance. His delivery is fast and furious, and his material ranges from the topical to the observational. He has toured extensively in the US, Canada and Hawaii, and now hopes to conquer Europe in the same way.
“One of the most exciting performers to come out of Australia since skippy!” New York Times
Shazia Mirza has a distinctive act which combines a deadpan delivery with observation on her world and is the UK’s only female Muslim stand up.
She began comedy in September 2000 and has in a very short space of time worked her way up the ladder picking up many awards including Hackney Empire Best New Act, along the way.
Shazia is now in huge international demand and works full time as a writer, actor and stand up comedian.
“My name is Shazia Mirza….’ she says. ‘At least that’s what it says on my pilot’s licence’. No one can resist – the room erupts” ELLE MAGAZINE Natalie Meddings
Gary Delaney is a razor sharp one-liner comedian, who is widely regarded as being the most quotable comic on the circuit. But the high quantity of stand out gags leaves the audience struggling to remember them all.
Gary regularly plays all the big clubs including The Comedy Store, Jongleurs, Komedia, Glee, Rawhide, The Frog and Bucket, Hyena, Baby Blue, The Stand, Comedy Cafe, Lee Hurst’s Backyard, Banana Cabaret and at clubs throughout the UK.
