Isle of Wight based carnival company, Shademakers UK, are proud and honoured to be taking part in the Platinum Jubilee Pageant celebrating the 70 year reign of The Queen. Shademakers will be showcasing The Queen’s Heraldic Beasts (listen to News OnTheWight’s podcast with the team when the news was first announced).
The panoply of creatures, each representing a different nation of the United Kingdom, come to life in this Celebration of Her Majesty’s long reign and dance to the rhythms of drums and pipes from across the world.

The Platinum Pageant tells the story of The Queen’s 70-year reign and our transforming society with artists and the communities from across the UK interpreting different chapters of this narrative in their own unique way.
The Platinum Pageant is set to be a spectacular unfolding story filled with wonder, warmth, wit and wow-factor.

Shademakers UK are on the lookout for people who are full of energy, passion and enthusiasm to don one of their incredible specially-made costumes and join them as they parade in front of the Queen as a key part of her Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

A whole menagerie of beasts
Under the artistic direction of Paul McLaren, the team at Shademakers UK are creating a whole menagerie of beasts, from farmyard creatures of the field to the mythical creatures of the Heavens.
Working out of their new base at Department in Ryde, Shademakers UK have been hard at work designing and building over 130 costumes for this prestigious event.
