Wightlink Raiders have extended their unbeaten run to six games after a comprehensive 8-0 away win in Swindon last Sunday Night.
It was the team’s second successive away shut out and means their defence have now conceded just four goals in four games.
After a goalless first period it was the club’s leading goalscorer Robbie Brown who set the team on their way to victory early in the second. Further goals from Jeremy Cornish, Alex Murray, Andy Robinson, Nathan Taylor, Jason Gorrie, Keiron Annis and a second from Brown completed the rout.
Tie with Oxford
On Saturday the Raiders had to settle for a point after coming back from 2-0 down to tie with Oxford at Ryde Arena. Oxford had raced into an early first period lead after a lacklustre first 20 minutes from the home side. Captain Damon Larter then halved the deficit in the second before a deflected shot from Jeremy Cornish levelled the game halfway through the third.
Tonight’s fixture
This weekend the Raiders, who now lie second in the table behind champions Invicta, take on old rivals Romford Raiders at Ryde Arena for the first time in two seasons.
Face off is 6pm, tonight (16th October).
