Record crowds filled Robin Hill for the fifth Isle of Wight Dash in the Dark on Saturday 3 October, in aid of Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance.
More than 700 people in their funkiest fancy dress, neon face-paints and fluorescent glow-sticks have so far raised more than £27,500 for the life-saving charity – enough to fund up to eight emergency missions.
Every penny will allow the service to continue responding to critically ill and injured patients across the region.
Biggest Dash in the Dark yet
Participant numbers were up 40 per cent on last year’s event, with the run being held at Robin Hill for the first time.
‘Blown away’ by the response
Keith Wilson, Director of Income and Engagement, said,
“I am blown away by the response we’ve had to this year’s Dash in the Dark. This is by far the biggest year we’ve ever had, with more than 700 people joining us on the night.
“Whether they’ve supported their air ambulance for many years or this is the first time they’ve encountered us, each person is now playing their part in helping to save lives across our region.
“On behalf of our charity and our future patients: thank you!”

Busy year and new airbase for the air ambulance
The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance doctors, pilots and paramedics have responded to almost 2,000 emergencies so far this year.
The service completed its relocation to its new airbase near Southampton Airport in June 2026 – improving response times to incidents across the Island.
