Following the changes to Red Funnel timetable following damage to one ferry by masses of fishing line, this in from Red Funnel. Ed
The return to normal service of Red Funnel’s vehicle ferry service between Southampton and East Cowes, Isle of Wight has unfortunately been delayed 48 hrs. The normal hourly service will now resume on Saturday 3 July instead of today as previously stated.
The following sailings are not operating until Sat 3rd July:
From Southampton
0515*, 0800, 1100, 1400, 1700
From East Cowes, Isle of Wight
0630*, 0930, 1230, 1530, 1830
* Mon-Fri only
All other advertised departures on the route (up to 15 in each direction) will operate as normal. Red Funnel’s Hi-Speed route between Southampton and West Cowes is unaffected.
The delay is due to the substation fire in Portsmouth last weekend which cut power to the dry dock for 48 hours and prevented work to replace the ships Voith Schneider propulsion unit which had suffered seal damage. Unfortunately it has not been possible to recover the lost time.
All booked customers have been contacted and rebooked on other sailings and Red Funnel apologises to passengers for any inconvenience.
