The Red Squirrel Trust is pleased announce its latest contribution to education.
A DVD entitled ‘Reds versus greys. The battle for our woodland’ takes a tour around the British Isles looking at the impact the American grey squirrel has had on our native reds and what is being done by those dedicated in protecting the red squirrel population.
Filmed and produced on the Island
Isle of Wight magician, Chris Philpott, presents the film which is aimed at keystage 3 students. The film has been written, directed and filmed by Helen Butler of The Red Squirrel Trust with editing by Alan Philpott of Vectis TV.
A reception launch of the DVD is to be hosted at the Isle of Wight Zoo at 11.30 am on Saturday November 8th for a number of invited VIP guests. High Sheriff, Claire Locke, will be there to officially launch the film. Presenter Chris Philpott, editor Alan Philpott and trustees from The Red Squirrel Trust will be there as well.
50 years for IUCN Red List of Endangered Species
The event is part of the BIAZA Red November campaign, marking the 50th anniversary of the IUCN Red List of Endangered Species which the Zoo will be highlighting and supporting during The Red November campaign.
Following the Official launch the zoo will screen a general showing of the DVD for its visitors in the zoo’s cafeteria area from 11.30am.
Helen Butler MBE of The Red Squirrel Trust has been invited to spend the afternoon at the Isle of Wight Zoo to answer any questions from zoo visitors who would like to learn more about red squirrels and the vital work of the Red Squirrel Trust.
