The Reform Party, who say they are aiming to have 600 Prospective Parliamentary Candidates for the next General Election, now has a candidate for the Isle of Wight.
Geoff Townley, South East Region Manager for Reform Party, told News OnTheWight there had been several applications from Islanders to stand as candidates.
Townley: Turmoil in the Conservative Party
Mr Townley added,
“The recent turmoil in the Conservative Party has led to unprecedented interest in our party, from people joining as members and a very large number of people wishing to become candidates.”
What is the Reform Party?
The Reform Party is led by Richard Tice, who many will already know has a connection with the Island.
With his partner, Isabel Oakeshott, he attended the Seaview BBQ Party held during in the May 2020 Lockdown that the current Isle of Wight MP, Bob Seely attended.
Mr Tice believes reform is required within the economy, the public sector and institutions, such as the BBC and the House of Lords.
