Remembering Peace

Thanks to Linda for sharing this report back from the ‘Remember Peace’ event that took place on Saturday. In her own words. Ed

White PoppyThanks to everyone who attended, helped out and contributed to the event ‘Remember Peace’ on Saturday, also to those unable to get there but who sent messages of support.

It was a time to reflect on all who have suffered from past and present conflict and those still suffering in the UK and around the world, and to people who are working peaceably for a fairer world where conflicts can be resolved without violence.

‘The white poppy is a symbol of grief for everyone harmed by war but, more importantly, it represents a commitment to work for a world where conflicts will be resolved without violence and with justice’ (Peace Pledge Union).

£50 raised for worthy cause
A collection was held for ‘Medicins sans Frontieres’ (Doctors without borders) an independent medical humanitarian organisation that delivers emergency aid in more than 60 countries to people effected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural or man-made disasters or exclusion from healthcare.

The collection raised £50 which will be going to support the work of this charity. Many thanks to everyone who helped raise money and gave so generously on the day.

If anyone wishes to make further independent donations you can do so through their website.
