Remote RIB rescue by Yarmouth lifeboat

Thanks to Claire for this latest news from Yarmouth RNLI. Ed

At 6.52pm yesterday evening (Wednesday) the RNLI’s Yarmouth lifeboat Eric and Susan Hiscock (Wanderer) was launched to go the aid of a RIB in difficulty 25 miles south of the Needles Lighthouse.

After a journey of just over an hour in force 4-5 southerly winds and a slight to moderate sea, the lifeboat arrived on scene at approximately 8pm to find a 7m RIB suffering from mechanical failure due to problems with its fuel system. On board were one adult and one child who had been in transit to Jersey.

Towed to Yarmouth
An attempt was made by the volunteer lifeboat crew to repair the fuel problem, but to no avail. The two RIB passengers were therefore transferred aboard the lifeboat and a tow was established for the return journey to Yarmouth Harbour, which was completed just after 10pm.
