The Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman (LGSCO) have revealed the number of complaints made against Isle of Wight council (IWC) over the past year.
According to data from the LGSCO, a total of 45 complaints were received across a range of eight different service areas, including Education and Children’s Services, Planning, Housing and Adult Social Care.
67 per cent upheld
26 complaints were closed after initial enquiries and ten were referred back for local resolution.
Data from the LGSCO reveals that of the remaining complaints, 67 per cent were upheld – meaning the IWC was found to be at fault.
100 per cent compliance rate
The LGSCO say their focus has become more on making wide-ranging recommendations to improve council services, and that they’ve directed more improvements to local councils in the past year than ever before.
In relation to the Isle of Wight complaints, the LGSCO reported a 100 per cent compliance rate, meaning they were satisfied IWC successfully implemented their recommendations to remedy the complaint.
