Next week sees the revised plans to cut the number of MPs from 650 to 600 unveiled.
As readers will know, the Boundary Commissions for England and Northern Ireland have been revising their scheme following the public consultation (see Isle of Wight responses).
The expected date for details of the revised scheme to be made public will be 16 October (next Tuesday). It will be at least another year, however, before the plans are submitted to the House of Commons for approval.
Readers may remember that the Liberal Democrats announced earlier in the year that they would vote against the proposals, so whether the plans go through is unclear.
The Boundary Commission is tasked to make sure that no constituency has an electorate smaller than 72,810 or more than 80,473. Of course, we know that the Isle of Wight is the exception with plans for two constituencies instead of one to share the voting population of 110,000.
