Visitors to RIBEX 2011 will be able to get an exclusive look at two boats taking part in the adrenaline-fueled Cowes to Monte-Carlo Offshore Powerboat Grand Prix.
A pair of boats taking part in the grueling challenge, which kicks off in June 2013, will be on display at the RIB show, which is taking place at Cowes Yacht Haven from May 13 to 15.
The boats, one 30ft RIB and a 36ft hard boat, will be used by competitors taking part in the 2,400 mile race, which travels to five countries in just 14 days. More than 50 teams will compete in the event and visitors to RIBEX will be able to find out all about the race and its route as the boats are on show.
Huge coup says Hugo
Hugo Montgomery-Swan, RIBEX organiser, said: “It is a huge coup to have the race exhibited at RIBEX. The Cowes to Monte-Carlo Offshore Powerboat Grand Prix is the longest, toughest and greatest offshore powerboat race in the world. There is no tougher and visitors to RIBEX will be able to get a true picture of the challenge that lies ahead by seeing these boats right in front of them.”
Mike Lloyd, who is organising the gargantuan on-water challenge, added: “The race has only taken place once in the 100 year old history of the sport and that was back in 1972, almost 40 years ago. There is huge excitement within the offshore world about this once in a lifetime race and we know visitors to RIBEX can’t wait to see and get their hands on these impressive boats.”
