News OnTheWight shares a comprehensive update on deaths, hospitalisations, vaccinations and positives Covid-19 tests on the Isle of Wight.
The figures are provided by NHS England and the Office for National Statistics and rely on people testing positive to report their results.

Deaths
The Office for National Statistics report no new deaths took place at the hospital during week 25 (deaths that occurred up to 24th June 2022, but were registered up to 2nd July 2022).
As of 24th June, the cumulative number of deaths with Covid-19 on the death certificate on the Isle of Wight was 438 – a rise of 1 in the last week.
As of 6th July 2022, the Government Dashboard records the total number of deaths within 28 days of a positive test remains at 402.
Covid patients in hospital
The Covid dashboard shows that as of 5th July the number of Covid-19 patients in hospital was 23 – a rise of 12 in the last week.
The Government dashboard also reports that two of those Covid patients are relying on mechanical ventilation.
Vaccinations
The number of Covid-19 vaccinations given on the Isle of Wight totals 314,885 (314,680 last week).
The total number of people who have received the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine, reported up to 5th July 2022 was 113,727 (113,712 last week).
The total number of people who have received the second dose of Covid-19 vaccine, reported up to 5th July 2022 was 109,021 (108,982 last week).
The total number of people who have received a booster or third dose of Covid-19 vaccine, reported up to 5th July 2022 was 92,137 (92,089 last week).
Confirmed positive cases
The latest confirmed data for the number of new positive Coronavirus (Covid-19) tests over seven days (29th Jun-5th Jul) on the Isle of Wight totals 561 – a rate per 100,000 population of 397.87.
112 (111 last week) of those are thought to be reinfections (ie. people who have had Covid before and caught it again).
As free testing has been abolished the figures are likely to higher than reported.
The cumulative total since the pandemic began now stands at 42,373 – a rate per 100,000 population of 30,051.77.
Age breakdown
The table below shows the breakdown of positive Covid-19 tests over the last reported week for under 20s, 20-59 year olds and 60+ compared to the previous week (there is a lag on this data).
