The last three days on the Isle of Wight have seen a rise in the number of positive Covid-19 tests and numbers of Covid-19 patients in hospital.
On Tuesday the Government’s Covid-19 Dashboard recorded that as of 3rd August there were seven Covid-19 patients in hospital with two on mechanical ventilation.
This morning the same Government source is reporting 36 patients at St Mary’s (as of 10th August) with one on mechanical ventilation.
St Mary’s: Gov data is wrong
However, the Isle of Wight NHS Trust now say the data provided by the Government and NHS England is incorrect.
A spokesperson for Isle of Wight NHS Trust told News OnTheWight,
“We want to reassure Islanders, our patients and our staff that we have not seen a significant increase in the number of people in St Mary’s Hospital with Covid-19 in recent days.”
“On the 9th and 10th of August there were five people in hospital who had been diagnosed with Covid-19.”
Rise in positive tests
The Covid-19 Dashboard also reports that on Monday (9th August), the number of positive tests was 21, on Tuesday that were another 64, on Wednesday another 71, on Thursday another 91 and today (Friday there were another 94 – taking the weekly total to 407 – a rate per 100,000 of population of 288.65 – the highest in the last three weeks.
There have been no new recorded deaths this week.
