B3322 Alum Bay New Road Needles fireworks displays. On each Thursday evening on July 31 and August 7, 14, 21 & 28 August 2014 fireworks extravaganza displays will take place at The Needles Park at Alum Bay. When parking is full at The Needles Park a road closure will be in operation in Alum Bay New Road. If this occurs event goers should then find an alternative location to park, beyond the junc of Alum Bay New Road/Alum Bay Old Road. Access to the Needles Park will be restricted when parking at The Needles Park is full in the interests of public and road safety. This is likely from approximately 7 to 7.30pm until 10pm on each evening, but could be as early as 2 to 2.30pm in the afternoon especially if the weather is good. Esplanade will be closed from 2.30pm on Friday 25 April 2014 for the foreseeable future between 375 metres to the northeast of Cambridge Road and the end of the highway 860 metres to the northeast of Cambridge Road. There is no alternative route for traffic. This closure is necessary to avoid danger to persons or other traffic using the road due to a landslip. FRESHWATER:
Cameron Close will be closed to vehicular traffic from 7am on Monday 18 November 2013 until 7am on Monday 18 May 2015 between the northern boundary of number 2 (45 metres north of the junction with Camp Road) and the end of the surfaced highway (110 metres to the northeast of Camp Road). The closure is required for the demolition of existing buildings and construction of a new development by Stoneham Construction Ltd. There is no alternative route for vehicular traffic. A temporary 30 mph speed restriction will be in operation on the B3399 Newport Road/ Freshwater Road, Freshwater from a point 140 metres east of the junction with Manor Road to the entrance of Tapnell Farm between 6pm on Tuesday 12 August 2014 and 8pm on Monday 18 August 2014 in the interests of road safety when the V – Dub Festival event takes place. GURNARD:
Shore Road/ Worsley Road will be closed from 9.30am on Monday 11 August until 1pm on Friday 15 August 2014 between Woodvale Road and Solent View Road.
During the period of closure the alternative route for vehicles will be; Worsley Road, Tuttons Hill, Baring Road and Woodvale Road. The closure is required for emergency low voltage electric cable works outside number 14. The works are located adjacent to the section of Shore Road leading to Gurnard Sailing Club. Pedestrian access will be maintained as usual.
LAKE:
Ranalagh Road / Cliff Road / Cliff Path. From 1200hrs on Friday 18 July 2014 for the foreseeable future the following roads / path will be closed to vehicular traffic: Cliff Road / Cliff Path will be closed from a point 55 metres to the northwest of the junction with Ranalagh Road to point 185 metres to the south west of the junction with Cliff Gardens (the southern boundary of number 6). Ranalagh Road will also be closed from Cliff Road to a point 10 metres to the west of Cliff Road.
During the period of closure there is no alternative route for vehicles. The closure is required due to erosion. Pedestrian access will be maintained as usual.
NEWPORT:
Newport Illuminated Carnival Wednesday 20 August 2014. The carnival will form up in Matalan Car Park (off Furrongs) at 6.30pm. The parade is due to leave at 9pm and will proceed along the following route: Furrlongs, South Street, Upper St James Street, Trafalgar Road, Carisbrooke Road, High Street, Quay Street and The Quay where the procession should arrive at approx. 10.45pm. Each road will be closed for a short period to allow the procession to pass through. Local diversions will be signposted as the procession proceeds.
THROUGH TRAFFIC WILL BE DIVERTED VIA: Priory Road, Gunville Road, A3054 Forest Road and A3020 Medina Way. Additional traffic delays will occur in the Newport area during the above times. ST LAWRENCE:
A3055 Undercliff Drive will remain closed from St Catherine’s Road to Seven Sisters Road (Western Junction), between Barrington Lodge, near to the western junction with Seven Sisters Road and Mirables which is located about a mile towards Niton. Following significant ground movement in the area in early February 2014, Undercliff Drive has been physically closed between Mirables (in the west) and a point 560 metres to the West of Seven Sisters Road (in the east) for safety reasons. There is now no access for vehicles or pedestrians. The Isle of Wight Council, working with partner agencies including Island Roads and with support from the army, led an operation in February to help residents of nine properties in Undercliff Drive
(in an area known as ‘Woodlands’) remove possessions from their homes after they were advised to leave for safety reasons. A formal road and footpath closure will be in operation from Saturday 15 February for the foreseeable future. Island Roads’ work in the road has been suspended and the road will remain closed until the ground has stabilised and further monitoring can be carried out to determine its future.

VENTNOR:
Bath Road. A one way restriction will be in operation from La Falaise car Park to Belgrave Road between 9am on Tuesday 29 October 2013 until approx. late in 2013. The restriction is due to the reduction in road for the protection to masonry at retaining wall R1074 above a property called Seacourt. At the end of the works Bath Road will return to two way traffic. DIVERSION ROUTE: Belgrave Road, Zig Zag Road, Alpine Road, Church Street, Hambrough Road, Shore Hill, Esplanade and Bath Road.
Longdown Steps Public Footpath V102 will be closed from 10am on Monday 12 May for the foreseeable future between South Street and St Catherine’s Street.
