Earlier today we made our way through the sunny streets of Ventnor down to St Catherine’s School where patron of the charity, Rob da Bank, was having a rendevouz with the learners there.
It’s been just over a year since we last chatted to Rob at St Catherine’s, when he was first getting to know the staff and learners. Since then they have become, what looks like, good friends.
Before a Q&A session with the learners, Rob gave them the low down on what he’s been up to over the last year.
It’s not just Bestival that keeps our Rob busy. Of course he has his Radio One show that goes out on Sunday evenings, Camp Bestival, other festivals he’s asked to play at as well as just finishing a new book about festivals.
The new book, only out two weeks ago and already having sold 5,000 copies was something Rob told the learners he wasn’t that keen on doing, but wife, Josie (a professional illustrator) prodded and pricked him until he agreed to do the writing. Josie provided the wonderful illustrations which have really bring the book to life.
The Q&A brought up some fantastics questions from the learners with our favourites being
Do you like animals? … How did you get here? … What car do you drive? … Do you drive fast? … What’s your favourite film? … Where is the radio station? … What are you doing on Monday? … How much do you pay musicians to play Bestival? … Why do you do Bestival?
and our favourite
You took a big risk booking Amy Winehouse for Bestival – why? followed by What do you think she spent her money on?
Having a high profile name such as Rob da Bank as patron for the school does wonders for St Catherine’s, so long may the relationship last.
