VB reader Lois Prior called to let us know of a robbery at Spar / Hunny Hill Stores in Newport that took place this evening.
We understand from her someone walked into the shop armed with an iron bar, forcing the young lady behind the counter to give them the money from the till.
As Islanders know, robberies like this are thankfully very rare on the Island.
Confirmed by the Police
We’ve contacted the Police and they’ve confirmed that they received a call at 8:09pm this evening and are currently on site investigating the theft of money from the till.
