Robot boat crashes into the Isle of Wight

The BBC ran an interesting story earlier this morning (Wednesday) about an un-manned boat that went off-course and ended up in rocks on the coast of the Isle of Wight.

The 1.5m boat, named Snoopy Sloop, was supposed to be crossing the Atlantic Ocean, but a strong tide is thought to have knocked it off-course.

Luckily for its owner, Retired Nato scientist Robin Lovelock, the tracking system remained intact, enabling him to recover the 5ft boat.

Six month journey
Mr Lovelock is planning to assess the damage and if all in order, will set the boat off on its trip once again. It’s thought the journey will take six months to complete, with the boat travelling at 3mph.
