Royal Chocolate project will create six new jobs

A planning application to convert the lower ground floor of a building at the rear of The Royal Hotel, Ventnor for producing high quality chocolates has been approved by the Isle of Wight council.

The project to produce high quality handmade chocolates under the brand, Royal Chocolate, is the latest business spinoff from hotel owner William Bailey.

The application went out to public consultation in December and in the New Year was approved by the planning department.

Six new jobs
No comments were lodged by members of the public and the planning officer advises that the Ventnor Town Council had confirmed strong support for the application, “reasoning that it would restore the building to commercial use and be of benefit to tourists and local people”.

According to the application, there’ll be no external changes to the building and no additional plant or machinery.

Paperwork also reveals that “the proposal would result in six jobs, but should it be successful, could result in further growth”.
