Ventnor Squad 7-29 Trojans 2/3XV
With a mixed squad, players out of position and a stand-in captain of Nolan Winter, were undone by a well-drilled Trojans side.
The first half saw Trojans take an early lead playing to their strengths and using the forwards to drive up the pitch. The game was very stop-start and gave the Ventnor backs no chance of getting a foothold in the game. Warren Riches was forced for the majority of the half to clear his lines and keep his side out of their own half. Ross Harris playing out of position at nine was able to keep pressure on his opposite number and cause problems for them. Although coming close and being within five meters of the travelling sides try line, Ventnor were unable to capitalise.
The second half was where the majority of Trojans tries were scored and the home side began to fade and allow them the ball. The introduction of Paul Berry at 12 caused some problems for the opposition and following a break down the wing the ball was then picked up by Berry to score Ventnor’s only try of the game and not make it a whitewash. A good spirited game and gave up and coming players the chance of game time and experience.
