Ryde Beach Lifeguards delivered their drowning prevention programme in Sandown this month, with their last session taking place yesterday (Wednesday 12th June).
The programme is sponsored by Southern Water and supported by Sandown Town Council.
Delivered by the Beach Lifeguards
Sea Safe is delivered by the Beach Lifeguards, and is an educational and immersive program that acts as a drowning prevention measure by RBLG.
The school groups learn about the dangers associated with the beach, such a rip currents, cold water shock and sun safety.
The students also learn about the lifeguard flags, how to summon help and finally survival skills in the sea.
The programme was delivered to the following schools: The Bay, St Blassuis, Ryde School, Dover Park, Oakfield, Broadlea, St Mary’s, Queensgate, Nettlestone, St Francis and Bembridge Primary Schools.
