Ryde residents are invited to come along, get involved and discover the joy of gardening at Mayfield Road Community Allotment – an inclusive space where everyone can grow, learn and enjoy time outdoors together.
Located in Mayfield Road, Ryde, the community allotment has received initial funding from SNG to help get the project started, creating a welcoming space where local people can meet, learn new skills and grow fresh fruit and vegetables.
Gardening is for everyone
Don’t let a disability, mobility issue or other limitation stop you from enjoying gardening.
The Mayfield Road Community Allotment is designed to be as accessible and inclusive as possible. A raised planter has been installed to make gardening easier for people who may find it difficult to reach the ground.
Support can also be provided for people with impaired vision, and the group will look at providing adaptive tools and equipment where needed.
Whether you have limited mobility, a disability, are living with another limitation, or simply need a little extra support, the group wants you to feel welcome and able to take part.
You don’t need to be an experienced gardener either. Whether you know your onions from your courgettes or have never planted a seed before, you can come along, learn at your own pace and enjoy being part of the group.
Grow it, enjoy it, take it home
One of the great things about getting involved is that the fruit and vegetables you help grow are yours to enjoy and take home.
So, as well as meeting people, learning new skills and spending time outdoors, you can enjoy the rewards of your hard work by taking home some of the fresh produce you’ve helped grow.

There’s no experience needed, and everyone is welcome.
The group currently meets every Wednesday lunchtime, giving local residents the opportunity to come along regularly, get involved and watch the allotment grow.
