It was a rather lack luster performance from Ryde’s Boys J16 Coxed Four of Dom Douglas, Ben Toms, Joel Smith, Jacob Redstone and Cox Austin Smith at the Itchen Eights & Fours Head of the River Race on Sunday (8th February) in their first race of 2015 season.
They crew started well enough in the three and half mile timed event on the river Itchen, but failed to get into a rhythm although they did appear to be closing on their opposition in their event until a bit of a “ship wreck” which forced a brief stop seriously compromising their time and they finished well down the field. They were the Ryde Club’s only entry – and our grateful to Newport RC for taking their boat to the event for them.
