Yesterday, Ryde Swim Club master swimmers Kim Holmes and Matthew Sussmes, who both coach at the club, took part in the annual short course SE Region Masters swim competition at the K2 Leisure Centre in Crawley.
After a very early departure from the Island, and missing much of the warm up, they both swam incredibly well against a very strong field of swimmers from all over the South East, with Kim winning two Golds in the 50m Breast-stroke and Back-stroke (35-39 year age group), and Matthew two Golds in the 50m Backstroke and 100m Freestyle and a silver in the 50m Freestyle (60 -64 year age group).
The next competition is the three-day National Championships at Sheffield’s Ponds Forge in October.
