Sandown Academy praise exceptional students

Thanks to John Bradshaw, Executive Principal at Sandown Bay Academy for sharing this good news with readers. Ed

Sandown Bay Academy LogoAmongst all of the students who have successfully secured their university places, we would especially like to congratulate four exceptional students, three of whom have achieved an Oxbridge place, Alice Rivers (Oxford, French and Russian), Samuel Lovell (Oxford, Law) and Sarah Murphy (Cambridge, Politics, Psychology & Sociology) and one of whom, Charlotte Andrew, has secured her place at St. Andrews to study History.

Another highly successful students is Tom Joy – 3A*s and an A! Paige Baldwin, Melissa Hewison and Charlotte Moseley achieved Triple Distinction (the equivalent of 3 A* s *) in BTec Sport and Exercise Sciences.

Outstanding results on Level 3 vocational courses
We are particularly pleased with the outstanding results achieved by students on Level 3 vocational courses.

These are representative of the increasing proportion of Sandown Bay Academy students who are choosing to continue their studies in the 6th form, taking advantage of a broader range of courses that has been introduced.

Statistics
Our A* grades have been achieved across a broad range of subjects, which is especially pleasing against a national picture of more rigorous application of marking criteria.

  • Over 23% A*and A Grades
  • 70% A*-C Grades at A2
  • 96% A*-E grades at A2

(Please note, all of these figures are subject to final checks and results of queries with examination boards.)

These results have been achieved with the dedication, guidance and commitment of our staff and parents). All our students are to be commended for their conscientious efforts.
