Here’s the results from Sandown High School Website – Ed.
Students and staff at Sandown High School are celebrating their highest ever GCSE pass rate.
Principal John Bradshaw said, “We are absolutely delighted with this year’s results which show significant improvements in all key areas.”
The percentage of students achieving five or more A*-C has increased by 15% to 67% , with the English A*-C pass rate up by 12% and the Maths A*-C rate up by 10%.
70% of students obtained two A*-C grades in Science and 80% at least one higher grade in Science.
Many individuals achieved outstanding results with over 80 students awarded at least one A* or Distinction at Key stage 4 and 27 students obtained five or more A/A* grades. English and Maths are now in line with the most recent National figures for all types of schools and Science significantly above the national average.
These excellent improvements reflect changes made to our curriculum to engage and motivate students at all levels and the development of personalised learning. Good grades were also achieved this summer by many Year 9 and Year 10 students and this will ensure that further improvements are realised in 2011.
It is particularly gratifying at this time of uncertainty, with the school entering it’s last year as a 13-19 institution, that we have been able to produce our best ever set of GCSE results.
