Sandown Skate Park awaiting competition 2008

Sandown Skate Park: Cliff Church (podcast)

Back in September at the official opening of the Sandown Skate park, named The Fort, we stopped to have a chat with Cliff Church, the man responsible for the design of the park.

Cliff was clearly chuffed that the park was completed and being so well used. He explained that they were finding the main user groups were bikes, roller blades and skate boards which sometimes made things a bit tricky.

If you haven’t been down yet, Cliff talked us through what’s on offer; a couple of flat banks; two quarter pipes; a 9ftx8ft a roll in; a table top; grind rail; set of three wide steps and a large flat area for freestyle.

It’s also great to hear that the park is being used by local skaters as well as skaters from as far as Cowes and Ryde.
