Sandown has joined a few other Island towns (Cowes, Newport, Ryde and Ventnor) in being granted what BT label Super-Fast Broadband.
Sandown is one of the further 98 exchanges across the UK that were named by BT this week.
Connection speeds are uncertain but BT mentions download speeds of up to 80Mbps and upload speeds of up to 20Mbps, where the fibre optic is delivered to the street cabinet.
The estimated date of delivery is late-2013.
