As part of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee next weekend, a flotilla will be taking place on Sunday (3rd June). Called the Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant, it will see over 1,000 boats floating along the Thames.
We happened to be in Richmond, London on Sunday just gone and got an early view of the newly-commissioned Royal Rowbarge. We thought you might be interested in the couple of snaps we took, giving you a chance of seeing it before it’s on TV next Sunday.
‘Gloriana’Named the Gloriana, it’s been built by Master boatbuilder Mark Edwards and his team at the Richmond Bridge Boathouses, which has been building boats for over three hundred years.
The Barge attracted a lot of attention as its extensive gilding sparkled in the strong sunshine.
Our photos focus on the cabin which will house 34 guests, including the Queen and the royal family It doesn’t show the full length, which includes space for the 18 rowers that will power it.

We know the snaps aren’t brilliant (we only had a mobile phone on us), but they give you a good idea of what it looks like.
