A number of vacancies have arisen in the past couple of months on town, parish and community councils around the Isle of Wight.
The role of town, parish or community councillors is voluntary and unpaid.
In order for a by-election to take place, ten local government electors for the ward have to give notice in writing that they wish the vacancy to be filled by means of an election.
Newport and Carisbrooke Community Council
A vacancy has occurred in the Newport West ward of Newport and Carisbrooke Community Council.
The last date for ten local government electors for the Ward to give Notice in writing that they wish the vacancy to be filled by means of an election is Friday 23rd August 2024.
If the required number of requests are not received, then the Community Council will proceed to fill the vacancy by means of co-option.
Shalfleet Parish Council
The Proper Officer has received the required number of requests for the vacancy in the East Ward and the two vacancies in the West Ward to be filled by means of a by-election, if contested, to be held on Thursday 29th August 2024.
Ventnor Town Council
A further vacancy has occurred in the Ventnor West ward of Ventnor Town Council.
The last date for ten local government electors for the Ward to give Notice in writing that they wish the vacancy to be filled by means of an election is Tuesday 3rd September 2024.
If the required number of requests are not received, then the Town Council will proceed to fill the vacancy by means of co-option.
