Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was sexually assaulted in Newport, Isle of Wight.
Between 11.40am and 11.50am on Monday, November 14, the woman was standing outside the Citizen’s Advice Bureau on High Street when she was approached by a man who then sexually assaulted her.
The 26-year-old victim managed to get away before speaking to two women in the street, both aged in their 20s, who said they had previously had an encounter with the same man.
Officers would like to speak to these two women urgently as they may have information to assist police with their investigation.
Detective Sergeant John Walton said:
“We would urgently like to identify the two women who approached the victim after this incident as they may have valuable information to assist with our enquiry.
“Additionally, we would like to hear from any members of the public who witnessed the incident or who can provide us with any information that could help.”
Police have arrested a 54-year-old man in connection with the incident. He remains in custody at this time.
