Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet: Modern take at Apollo Theatre’s 51st season opener

A powerful performance of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet is set to open the Apollo Theatre’s 51st season this September.

This bold production’s staging looks at the doomed love story in a modern context.

Joe Plumb says,

“We begin on a building site where a former estate is being ripped down to make way for shiny new high-rise flats. Two families in desperate poverty are deepening their bitter conflict. Women have their keys in their hands and bark like dogs if men try to approach them in the streets. Verona is not safe.”

Where and when
The show runs from 1st to 9th September at Apollo Theatre, Newport.

Tickets are great value – starting from only £5. They can be purchased online and at the Box Office on Pyle Street or by calling (01983) 527267.
