Our favourite satirical news site, NewsBiscuit, founded by the author, scriptwriter and political campaigner John O’Farrell, once again features the Isle of Wight.
The latest NewsBiscuit article looks at 22 year old Mickey Pickles from Shanklin, who through a stroke of luck has managed to find himself pitched against Serbian tennis maestro, Novak Djokovic in a showdown on a Thursday at Wimbledon.

However, young Mickey might face a problem or two. He says
“Playing at Wimbledon is like a dream come true. We haven’t got the same level of facilities back home as some of the top seeds, but I haven’t let that hold me back.
“There’s only one racquet on the Island, so most of my learning has come from playing Swingball and reading a 1979 issue of Tennis Today I found in the library. I just hope I’m not drawn against Björn Borg.”
Given the regularity of spoofs featuring the Island, we reckon it must have a special place in John’s heart.
