Quay Arts audiences will be wowed by this brilliant jazz musician performing in a couple of weeks time.
Sri-Lankan born, London raised Shanti Paul Jayasinha’s influences delve deep into the rich tapestry of collaborations and travel to far flung places such as Cuba, Brazil and Finland!
His style is world-influenced Latin jazz at its best, lifted by this gifted trumpet & flugelhorn player with the sounds of Cuba and Venzuela!
Jayashina is also a superb composer and educator.
He has worked alongside the greats such as of Alex Wilson, Tim Garland, and John Etheridge’s Zappatistas and played in concert with many of the Buena Vista Social Club.
He has led workshops for schools and universities across the world.
As a leading jazz music educator he has been a workshop leader, and has taken part in many large projects featuring world and jazz musicians, as well as a plethora of local community and youth groups.
He has worked on some of the best world-jazz projects with a thoughtful, original style and with great passion.
In 2004 he formed the group ShantiJazzWorld and composed music for it and played gigs around the UK, mainly in regional Jazz Clubs and played several festivals
Recently Jayashina’s band has played at the Pizza Express and Canary Wharf Jazz Festival and has appeared in ‘Jersey Boys’ and ‘Gone with the Wind’ in the West End.
Paul’s debut album ‘Round Trip’ is a stellar accomplishment and this gifted horn player will guarantee audiences are entertained by both his masterful individual style and his enduring compositions.
