During 2023, works were carried out on Towngate Pond in Newport by Southern Water.
A small weir was removed to aid fish passage, and the stones that were removed were used to create additional seating on the grass.

A Masters Student at Nottingham University is looking to assess people’s perceptions of the improvements in Towngate Pond through a survey.
Additionally, the research explores how residents of the Isle of Wight relate to their local rivers.
The survey takes about ten minutes to complete and can be accessed via the surveymonkey website.
