Isle of Wight Council is providing a British Sign Language (BSL) Interpreter at one of its forthcoming education public meetings for anyone who may be hard of hearing.
The meeting is being held at Carisbrooke High School on Wednesday 6 February and begins at 7pm.
The council’s Cabinet Member for Children & Young People, Cllr Alan Wells said ‘We have always said we want as many people as possible to have their say on the proposals. By providing a BSL interpreter at the Carisbrooke meeting, we are helping ensure those who may be hard of hearing do not miss out on the public meetings and they get the chance to receive the views of other Islanders”
Ten public meetings are being held across the Isle of Wight during the consultation period, beginning tonight (24 January) at Osborne Middle School in East Cowes. The council is reminding those who plan on attending meetings that due to strict health and safety laws, each venue has a maximum capacity. In the event of visitors being unable to attend a meeting due to capacity being reached, the council will look at putting on an extra meeting in the area at a future date, should the need arise.
