The Solent Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) has opened applications for the role of Chairperson of the Solent Marine and Maritime Steering Group (SMMSG).
Last month Solent LEP announced that it would launch the new steering group and back it with £75,000 in the first year. Now it is inviting business leaders from the Solent’s marine and maritime sector to apply to lead the group. Candidates should be at CEO, managing director or director level, with extensive knowledge and experience of the sector in the region.
The appointed candidate will be expected to chair the SMMSG meetings, while steering the collaborative delivery of key transformational initiatives. Representing the SMMSG in other forums, the Chairperson will act as an ambassador for the Solent and be an active leader for the marine and maritime sector’s development in the region.
Russell Kew, Solent LEP Director and Marine Maritime Sector Lead, said:
“This is a fantastic opportunity to head up a strategic steering group of professionals in a world leading region for the industry. There is great scope for the development of the Solent’s marine and maritime sector and this prestigious position can help shape the Solent’s economic future.”
