Southern Vectis introduces shuttle bus service for Brading during New Road closure

Following calls from Brading residents for a shuttle bus during the New Road closure, Southern Vectis have announced they will introduce a shuttle bus service.

The bus operator has partnered with Isle of Wight Council to provide the service during the ongoing roadworks which could last up to four weeks.

Shuttle route details
The shuttle will run between Brading Bull Ring and Tesco.

Passengers can connect with routes 2 or 3 at Tesco to continue their journeys.

Response to passenger concerns
Simon Moye, Southern Vectis operations manager, acknowledged the impact on regular users. He said,

“We understand our customers rely on the services we provide, and this has been a challenging situation.

“I’d like to thank them for their patience and understanding during these works by Island Roads.”

Partnership approach
Mr Moye welcomed the collaborative solution with the council. He said,

“Our team is determined to minimise disruption to our services, and I am delighted that we have been able to work with Isle of Wight Council to provide the shuttle bus for the remainder of the works.”

Council commitment
Stewart Chandler, the council’s transport strategy manager, emphasised the importance of maintaining connectivity. He said,

“Ensuring residents can continue to travel reliably during these essential works has been a priority for us.

“We’re pleased to have worked closely with Southern Vectis to introduce this shuttle service, which will help maintain important connections for the Brading community.”
