Good news for those concerned at the loss of the Ventnor-Shanklin Rail-Link after the Isle of Wight council decided last months to scrap it from Sunday.
Southern Vectis have been in touch to let us know that from Sunday they should have Route 3 running into Shanklin Railway Station.
Marc Morgan-Huws from CV tells us that they’re working with Island Line to have the bus stop moved to the front of the station where there is the canopy.
He went on to say that SV are working to get their ticketing system set up so that they can continue to provide the ‘add on bus fare’ to complement the train.
Rail-Link Fares
The SV ‘Rail-Link’ add on will be as follows:
Adult : £2.50 single
Adult : £4 day return
Adult : £16 7 day pass
Half price available to all our usual qualifying groups.
The ‘Rail-Link’ ticket will be available between Wroxall / Upper Ventnor / Ventnor and Shanklin Railway Station, and can be bought on the bus.
It will also be available when buying train tickets as an inclusive ticket.
Stuart George from the IW Bus Users Group said that “Although not as good as the present dedicated rail link bus, these changes will go a considerable way to ease travel between Ventnor & Shanklin for rail passengers, both residents and visitors.”
