VB readers will already have seen our report of sustainable clothes company Rapanui picking up an award at the Sustainable Business Awards last night .
Well another company from the Island also came home happy bunnies last night.
The Island’s bus company, Southern Vectis, were awarded not only winners of the Large Business Award, but also received the overall award of Sustainable Business of the Year.
The organisers of the event said “the judges had been wowed not only by Southern Vectis’s impressive achievements across a range of sustainability actions such as carbon emission reductions of 10% in a single year, and an innovative car scrappage scheme to encourage island residents to adopt public transport, but also the company’s very apparent and genuine commitment to the overall principles of sustainability and their determination to go above and beyond in every area. They unanimously agreed that Southern Vectis were worthy champions in both categories.”
