St Catherine’s Speech, Language and Communication School is getting into the festive spirit with a wonderful programme of Christmas fundraising activities, bringing together the local community to support children and young people with complex speech, language and communication needs.
With Christmas fast approaching, the school is inviting families, friends, local businesses and the wider Isle of Wight community to join in the celebrations and help make a difference through four special festive initiatives.
Carols in the chapel
The Christmas celebrations will begin with Carols in the Chapel on Thursday 10th December (doors open 6pm).
This special occasion will bring people together to enjoy traditional Christmas carols in the beautiful surroundings of St Catherine’s historic chapel, creating a wonderful opportunity to share the magic of Christmas while supporting the school.
Tickets are limited and are just £5. Please email Tanya at [email protected].
Christmas market in Ventnor
On Saturday 12th December, the school will host its much-loved Christmas Market (10.30am to 4pm), welcoming visitors to browse a selection of festive stalls, enjoy seasonal refreshments and soak up the Christmas atmosphere. It promises to be a lovely community event, perfect for getting into the Christmas spirit while supporting a fantastic cause.
The market will be held at St Catherine’s Church, Church Street, Ventnor and is free for everyone. There will be visits from Spider-Man, Elsa and the Elf, with live music organised by Greg Barnes showcasing local talent.
Get involved from home
There are also plenty of opportunities to get involved from the comfort of your own home. The school’s Christmas Raffle is running now until 12th December, offering supporters the chance to win some fantastic prizes while raising valuable funds for the school. Please email Tanya if you would like to support the school by buying tickets – [email protected].
St Catherine’s new Dedicate a Bauble campaign is also running until 17th December. Supporters are invited to dedicate a Christmas bauble to someone special, a past student or in memory of a loved one. Each dedicated bauble will be displayed on the school’s Christmas tree in the chapel, creating a beautiful and meaningful tribute during the festive season. Dedicate a bauble.
Every bit of support means so much
Tanya Smith, Fundraising Coordinator at St Catherine’s, said,
“Christmas is such a special time of year, and we are delighted to bring our community together through these festive fundraising activities. Every donation, raffle ticket, bauble dedication and visit to our Christmas Market helps us make a difference to the lives of the children and young people we support.
“We are incredibly grateful for the continued kindness and generosity of our local community. Whether you join us for carols, visit our Christmas Market or dedicate a bauble to someone special, every bit of support means so much to our school.”
All money raised will go towards supporting St Catherine’s and helping to provide opportunities, experiences and resources that make a real difference to its students.
The school encourages everyone to get involved, spread the word and help make this Christmas a little more special for St Catherine’s.
