Thanks to Hannah for this update from St Catherine’s. Well done to all who took part in the British 10k. Ed
Last Sunday (8th July), a team of seven successfully braved the rain showers to complete the British 10k in London to raise money for Ventnor-based charity St Catherine’s.
The team were among the 25,000 runners who took part in the race, and the iconic race route took them past landmarks including Trafalgar Square, St Paul’s Cathedral, The London Eye, and Big Ben.
Pupils, care manager, parents and former pupil
The team was made up of three current pupils, St Catherine’s Further Education Care Manager, two parents and a former pupil.
The money they have raised from sponsorship will support children and young people at St Catherine’s with speech, language and communication needs.
Danny Bush, FE Care Manager, said, “The heavens truly opened whilst we waited to start, but luckily once we started running we got a (short) break from the rain! Despite this wet weather we all finished in times we are happy with and I’m really proud of the boys from our Further Education Centre who took part. Thank you to everyone who has supported us this year.”
