We missed this event last year, so are really looking forward to the return of the Vectis Astronomical Society’s Stargazing Live event.
It’s an evening of hands-on activities supervised by the Society’s experienced amateur astronomers.
Brian Curd, the Observatory Director, will give a talk entitled “Where do we fit it?”, followed by a talk from member, Peter Burgess, entitled “Astronomy – “Where do I begin?”
Tours and more
There’ll be a chance to go on a tour of the dome, see ten types of telescopes and various binoculars, as well as the Celestron SkyScout (a star finder) and giant binoculars.
A representative from Astronomy Centre ‘Astronomia’ is going to be there with a display of equipment. Not to mention hands on advice on Astro Imaging with Dr Jon Whitehurst.
The event is free, with a suggested donation of £1. No booking is required unless you are bringing a group, in which case please call in advance.
