Successful trade union partnership propels Isle of Wight NHS Trust into awards shortlist

Isle of Wight NHS Trust has been shortlisted for a Healthcare People Management Association (HPMA) award. This nomination is for delivery of a successful collaboration project with trade unions which has improved flexible working opportunities for all employees.

The human resources and trade union team worked together to redesign the flexible working policy from scratch, as well as developing a new manager training and support package which offers all new starters at the Trust flexible working from their first day.

Osbon: We have built mutual trust and confidence
Sam Osbon, People Partner, Isle of Wight NHS Trust said,

“Having an embedded partnership approach with our trade union colleagues is at the heart of everything we do. Our flexible working project is one of the many examples of how we work collaboratively within the Trust.

“Our Staff Side Chair has a seat at Trust Board and is a key member of several key sub-committees, which means we have built mutual trust and confidence which is key to co-designing and co-creating policy frameworks that benefit our patients and our people.”

HPMA Excellence in People Awards
The HPMA Excellence in People Awards recognises and celebrates the work of people professionals across the UK. The awards ceremony will be held in Leeds on Tuesday 19 September which is day one of the UK conference and exhibition.
